About
The stress of trading my own account led me to yoga, which then brought me back to trading. My final topic for my 500 RYT yoga certification, the first portion of my studies in yoga, was on how yoga can improve a trader’s efficacy. I viewed my project as a form of therapy: a way to discover how I trade, what I choose to ignore and why success as a trader is not always defined by profitable trades. As Self-realization of yoga first requires self-actualization, trading has become an integral part of my yoga practice.
My chart analysis is mainly technical, although I approach trading from the holistic view I adopted from my studies with Dr. Bill Williams and his Profitunity philosophy. I’ve also completed Robert C. Miner’s Dynamic Traders course and apply his methods for ascertaining Elliot waves. Although I have studied privately and institutionally, most of my knowledge comes from first-hand experience trading futures with my own account. I continue to practice, study, and teach yoga (mostly Ashtanga), which has deepened my understanding of myself, yoga, and trading. Yoga has enabled me continue to trade while traveling and living abroad for the past few years.
My aim is to share yoga philosophy and techniques mainly in the traditional Ashtanga method as passed down to me through continuing studies with Manju Jois; Ayurveda exercises and treatments, stemming from advanced Yoga and Ayuveda certification from the American Institute of Vedic Studies; some general aspects of trading psychology both from eastern and western perspectives to condition and heal the body and mind. The ensuing physical and mental transformation will facilitate the mastery of any trading strategy, without the need for a belief in the afterlife. Keeping an open mind, however, would be beneficial–although, that’s rarely the problem for traders or yogis.
